Children's Summer Library Program

Summer Library Theme - Read Beyond the Beaten Path

Norelius Community Library offers a Summer Library Program for children who will be in preschool through fifth grade in September. Summer Library Program runs in June and July every year. We will have a variety of fun and exciting crafts, activities and programs, as well as reading incentives.

The theme for 2023 is Libraries are Magical! This summer, we'll be exploring the magic of reading and the library with a fairytale themed program. Join us for a variety of events including the ISU Insect Zoo and the Rick Eugene Magic Show! We'll also be doing fun arts and crafts, having Fairytale Storytime on Saturdays complete with games or other fun activities, and introducing a new program called Read & Play on Wednesday mornings for kids ages 0-5.

Kids can also keep track of how much they read between June 1st and July 14th to earn fun incentives and prizes. Brag tags are back! Every participant will start out with one brag tag and can earn more by attending programs and filling out their reading sheets. We'll also be giving away three grand prizes this year - each child can earn up to three (3) entries for the prize of their choice!

Children ages seven (7) and up can attend Summer Library Program events without a parent or guardian present, but we do ask that if you are bringing a large group of children to have a helper present to assist them. Any child under age seven (7) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at least thirteen (13) years of age.

Please stop in the Children's Library to pick up a registration form, or download a printable PDF to turn in at the Children's Library at your convenience! You can register through July 8th.

Summer Library Program packets will be available for pickup for all registered children beginning June 1st.
